STREET & OTHER WORK SCHEDULED
LIGHT POLE INSTALLATION ON LINCOLN STREET - TRAFFIC REVISIONS
Beginning Monday, February 6, 2012, contractors will begin installing new streetlight poles along Lincoln Street in the area from Second Street to Lauridsen Boulevard.
Work will continue for approximately three weeks. Lincoln Street will remain open with traffic lane revisions in place in areas of construction activity.
Please allow additional time to travel through this area. The goal is finish this work as quickly - and as safely - as possible. Please note that dates may change, and work extended depending on weather, progress and conditions.
CITY PIER WORK/REPAIRS
January 9, 2012 -
Work to replace a section of the City Pier's fire suppression system will begin on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. The contractor, Viking Automatic Sprinkler Company, will fence off an area in the west portion of the Pier for storage of equipment. The viewing tower, Feiro Marine Life Center, playground, and public restrooms will remain open.
The project will replace the west sprinkler system of the Pier's overall fire suppression system. This section had reached the end of its useful life expectancy. Work is expected to extend through March 5, 2012.

WATERFRONT - OLYMPIC DISCOVERY TRAIL UPDATES
UPDATE - WATER MAIN BREAK / Section of Olympic Discovery Trail Open Posted February 3, 2012 at 11:25 a.m. - On February 2, 2012, a break occurred in the 8-inch water line located near the Olympic Discovery Trail on the Milwaukee Grade in the area of 10 th and 14 th Streets. This section of the Trail was closed while City crews responded to make repairs.
This section of the trail was reopened this morning.

WATERFRONT / OLYMPIC DISCOVERY TRAIL and VALLEY CREEK CULVERT CLEANING PROJECT
Beginning on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 12 p.m., pedestrian traffic revisions will be necessary along the Waterfront / Olympic Discovery Trail near the Valley Creek Estuary Park to allow for sidewalk replacement.
The Trail will remain open with a detour around the construction site. Work is expected to be completed on the afternoon of Friday, February 3, 2012.
Our goal is to complete the project safely with as little inconvenience as possible to the public. The workers appreciate your understanding and patience. Please note that as with all projects - dates may change, and work may be extended depending on weather, progress and conditions.

WORK DELAYED
Posted December 15, 2011 - Work to repair the section of the Waterfront & Olympic Discovery Trail located between the east side of the Rayonier Mill parking lot at the footbridge, to the approximate area where the trail begins to curve to the south near Morse Creek, has been discontinued for the winter. The trail is open.
The project will resume in early spring to finish planting and repairs to the asphalt.

FAIRCHILD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
William R. Fairchild International is the largest airport on the Olympic Peninsula and is located within the City limits on the west side of town. The main runway, at 6,350 feet, provides access to every type of aircraft from small commercial jets down. When necessary, Fairchild's runway can handle aircraft as large as a Boeing 737.
For more than 75 years the airport has served the community, and Port of Port Angeles has operated the airport for more than 50 of those years - creating relationships that have brought various commercial airlines to the area, as well as cargo companies.
Fairchild also caters to private aircraft and charters, with a number of hangars and tie downs. William R. Fairchild is located at Latitude 48º 07' 14" N by Longitude 123º 29' 55" W Altitude 288 feet above MSL.

Black Ball Transport Ferry "Coho"
The Coho provides year round vehicle and passenger service between Port Angeles and Victoria, B.C. Sailing time is approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes. The ferry arrives and departs from downtown Port Angeles to the inner harbor in Victoria. Reservations are accepted.
