The seven member City Council is elected at large and serve 4-year terms. The City Council elects a Mayor and Deputy Mayor from the Council to serve 2-year terms. The Council meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of City Hall. Public Hearings are scheduled to commence at 7:00 p.m., or soon thereafter.

As part of their continuing outreach to the community, the Port Angeles City Council will have a table at the Farmers' Market in The Gateway on the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The Gateway is located at the intersection of Front & Lincoln Streets.

CHERIE KIDD / Mayor (Jan. 2008 - Dec. 2011 and Jan. 2012 - Dec. 2015)

Mayor Kidd is a native of Port Angeles and a third generation member of the Kidd family in Port Angeles. She is a graduate of Port Angeles High School and attended Peninsula College.
Her business background includes working for Fortune 500 Companies including First Financial Management, Sprint, KPMG and Egon Zehnder International.
Mayor Kidd has run two successful companies of her own including national speaking tours with Success Seminars. In cooperation with her husband, Bob Forsberg, they own a local mini-storage facility, AAA Affordable Storage.
Mayor Kidd is the former Chair of the Port Angeles Planning Commission. She is the President-Elect of the noon Kiwanis Club. This is a special honor because her father, Ray Kidd, was also President of this club.
Mayor Kidd is an active member of the Port Angeles Business Association, the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Soroptimist International, and serves on the boards of the Clallam County Historical Society, Olympic Medical Center Foundation, Salvation Army, and the Underground Preservation Foundation. She also taught "Excellent in Customer Service" classes for WorkFirst at Peninsula College.
She was selected by the City Council to serve as Mayor during their first meeting of 2012. She will serve as Mayor for two years until December of 2013.
Brad Collins retired after a 40-year career of public service to many Washington local communities, including more than 15 years as the Community Development Director of the City of Port Angeles.
For the past year, Deputy Mayor Collins has served as Deputy Director for Resource Development and Capital Projects of Serenity House of Clallam County, a homeless service agency.
Brad and his wife, Jan, a Port Angeles school teacher, have lived in Port Angeles since 1990 and raised two children here. As an active community volunteer, he is a member of the Clallam County Historical Society, the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, the Friends of Olympic National Park, the North Olympic Land Trust, the University of Washington Department of Urban Design & Planning Professionals Council, and many State and National Professional Associations.
Mr. Collins was appointed to fill the vacancy that resulted from the resignation of Larry Little. He was elected in 2011 to complete this term of office until December 2013. He was selected to serve as Deputy Mayor during the first Council meeting of 2012 and will serve until December 2013.
SISSI P. BRUCH, PhD(Jan. 2012 - Dec. 2015)
Email: sbruch@cityofpa.us Councilmember Bruch began her career in planning and design in 1988 after graduating from Louisiana State University with a Masters in landscape architecture. She worked 10 years in private practice where she helped in the design and construction of a variety of projects such housing, schools, parks, golf courses, mine reclamation redevelopment, and office complex near her Towson, Maryland home.
This experience lead to a decade of academic and public service in Lansing, Michigan where she taught site engineering, sustainable construction practices, urban planning, and computer technology at Michigan State University. While teaching at MSU, she earned her PhD in urban planning. In addition, she served 9 years as a member of the City of Lansing's Planning Board and participated in many redevelopment projects with students addressing the myriad of issues facing a city in transition.
Councilmember Bruch became a permanent Port Angeles resident in 2009 after spending 5 years traveling back and forth and now works for the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe as their senior planner. She served Port Angeles as a Planning Commission member from 2010 until her resignation at the end of 2011.
She is serving her first term of office as a City of Port Angeles Councilmember.
DAN Di GUILIO (Jan. 2008 - Dec. 2011 and Jan. 2012 - Dec. 2015) Email: ddiguilio@cityofpa.us After serving three years in the United States Army as a military policeman, Mayor Dan Di Guilio attended Western Washington State College, graduating with a degree in Sociology and Human Resource Planning and went to work for the Grays Harbor Regional Planning Commission as a Law and Justice Planner.
In 1980 he became the Director of Pacific Transit System serving in that capacity for 15 years and in 1995 accepted the position as General Manager of Clallam Transit System.
Mayor Di Guilio retired from a 25-year career in public transportation in 2005. In 2007 he accepted the position as Director of Housing Improvements for Olympic Community Actions Programs. The division weatherizes and rehabilitates housing for low-income families in Clallam and Jefferson Counties. Mayor Di Guilio left this position in the fall of 2009 to devote more time to personal issues.
During his career Mayor Di Guilio has served on numerous boards and commissions. Some include, president of the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool, president of the Washington State Transit Association, chair of the Pacific County Board of Adjustment, chair of the Pacific County Regional Planning Council, appointment by Governors Lowery and Gardner to the Juvenile Dispositions Standards Commission, and appointment by Secretary of Transportation Sid Morrison to the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board.
Dan Di Guilio served as Mayor from 2010 to 2011. He is serving his second consecutive term as a City Councilmember
Mayor Di Guilio is married to wife Carol, of 39 years. He has two grown sons, Matthew who lives in Port Angeles and Benjamin a career Coast Guardsman, and two grandchildren.
PATRICK DOWNIE (Jan. 2010 - Dec. 2013)
Email: pdownie@cityofpa.us Councilmember Downie was raised in Burbank, California and moved with his family to Port Angeles in 1974, where he took over ownership of the Royal Victorian Motel prior to opening the Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream store in 1979. For 15 years he was involved with commercial real estate and senior housing development. Since 1998, he has been the Program Coordinator for Catholic Community Services/Volunteer Services of Clallam County.
Long actively engaged in civic and community service, Councilmember Downie is the President of Paint the Town, former Chair of the Port Angeles Planning Commission, past Board President of the North Olympic Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau, past member of the boards of the Juan De Fuca Festival of the Arts, and PALOA. He currently serves on the advisory boards of the North Olympic Volunteer Center, RSVP, and the Regional Transportation Planning Organization.
Councilmember Downie has a B.A. degree in Sociology from California State University Northridge, with a minor in Urban Planning. During his professional and business career he has been accorded numerous awards of recognition, including the "Friend of Humanity" Employee Service Award from Catholic Community Services, Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Community Service from the City of Port Angeles, and Special Recognition and Community Service Awards from the Sequim and Port Angeles Associations of Realtors.
Councilmember Downie is married to his wife, Jayne, of 46 years. They have two grown daughters, Erin Craver who lives with her husband Ray in Bothell, Washington, and Lynn Crumb who lives with her husband Michael in North Bend, Washington and four grandchildren.
Max Mania was born in San Francisco, and raised in Ashland, Oregon. He and his wife, Dr. Dale Holiday, moved to Port Angeles from Olympia after visiting and falling in love with the town.
Mania's studies focused on criminology and sociology, but his great passion has always been the arts. He is a playwright, performer, director, and visual artist, and has been deeply involved in the arts scene since moving to Port Angeles.
Mania serves on the boards of the Friends of the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, the Port Angeles Community Players, and is a founding board member of the Port Angeles Arts Council (PAAC). He is also currently in charge of Second Stage productions for the PAAC.
In his career, Mania has worked on a film crew for the National Safety Council, as a high-tech public relations agent, and as a communications specialist for a company providing emergency support services to client companies such as Boeing, Paramount Pictures, and Pfizer. He is also a professionally trained baker.
Mania and his wife are childless by choice, and live a quiet life with their cats. In his free time, Mania enjoys films and radio shows from the 1930s-40s, reading and cooking.
Brooke Nelson enjoyed being raised in Port Angeles. She is currently a full time Realtor and designated Ecobroker. She is the mother of three - Clara, Theodin and Moira - and wife to City of Sequim Police Detective Darrell C. Nelson.
Councilmember Nelson previously worked as a Bank Manager, Corporate Trainer and has 20 years of customer service and business experience.
In the time Councilmember Nelson designates for giving back to the community, she is an active member of Built Green of Clallam County, on the board of directors for the North Peninsula Building Association as State Director, and also the Membership Chair.
She represents Port Angeles on the Sheriff's Advisory Council, and teaches the 1st Time Homebuyers Class once a month as a community service on behalf of the Washington State Finance Housing Commission.
Additionally, Councilmember Nelson volunteers in the public schools, volunteers as a soccer coach, and is a registered Girl Scout.
PUBLIC NOTICE OF DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION AND PUBLIC HEARING On December 29, 2011, the City of Port Angeles received a shoreline substantial development permit application for the following work within the shoreline area: The application was determined to be complete on December 29, 2011. The site is legally described as being in Township 30 North, Range 6 W.W.M, Port Angeles, Washington, and is generally described as being located along the Port Angeles waterfront between Valley Street extended and Lincoln Street.
The project consists of redevelopment of public amenities along the subject corridor including a new concrete pedestrian walkway esplanade, resurface automobile and pedestrian areas, expansion and redevelopment of the Hollywood Beach area, a new west end park near the Valley Creek estuary, and a pedestrian bridge from Municipal Pier to the west side of Peabody Creek.
Written comments on the proposed development must be submitted in writing to the Port Angeles Department of Community & Economic Development, P.O. Box 2876, Port Angeles, Washington, 98362, no later than January 31, 2012.
The PORT ANGELES PLANNING COMMISSION will conduct a public hearing on the proposal on FEBRUARY 22, 2012, 6 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, 321 East Fifth Street. The application materials may be reviewed at the City's Department of Community & Economic Development. Interested parties are invited to attend the meeting, make comment on the application, and may request a copy of the decision once it is made. City Hall is accessible for persons with disabilities.
STATE ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT: It is anticipated that a Mitigated Determination of Non Signficance (MDNS) will be issued for the project per WAC 197-11-340(2) following the public comment and review period that will end on January 31, 2012.
